Introduction of Projects

Country focused training course for Tourism Promotion for the Republic of Serbia

Background of the Project:

Balkan region has numerous potential as the touristic spots such as ruins of Roman times and Ottoman age as well as beautiful nature, however, resources are not maintained enough to attract more tourists by respective effort of each country.

To improve current situation, it is necessary to make the joint tourism promotion strategy by regional cooperation to invite more tourists as a common profit in the region.

It would be a good opportunity for officers working in the field of tourism industry in the Balkan region to join the World Travel Fair in Japan and conduct a tourism marketing investigation and tourism promotion jointly as JICA training participants.

  • Project objective: Joint tourism strategy in Balkan region is established and utilized
  • Project sites: Entire Serbia
  • Duration: July 2012 – September 2014
  • Executing Organization: National Tourism Organization of Serbia
  • Outputs:
  1. Draft of joint tourism strategy in Balkan region is developed.
  2. A tourism marketing investigation and tourism promotion will be conducted at the World Travel Fair in Japan, based on that strategy.
  3. That strategy is assessed and improved.
  4. Action plan to utilize that strategy continuously throughout the region is developed.
