Introduction of Projects

Psycho-social Project for Children in Ralja, Smederevo, Kaludjerica, Belgrade

Background of the Project:

The long-lasting economic crisis in Serbia especially influenced by the global economic recession is causing the social and economic problems even harder on the vulnerable people, especially for internally displaced persons (IDPs). People under such social conditions tend to suffer repression and need psychological care to revive and survive. The project supports children in Ralja, Smederevo, Kaludjerica, Belgrade to acquire mental strength and ability to live their life with self-esteem, inner strength, cultural integration and initiatives of community building. The psychological workshops of the Project have aim to support children's healthy development and to prevent them from psychological disorder, delinquency and drop-out from school.

Outline of the project

  • Project type: Grass Root Cooperation Project – JICA Partnership Program
  • Project objective: Improve psychological well-being of the children in Ralja-Smederevo and Kaludjerica-Belgrade
  • Project sites: Ralja-Smederevo and Kaludjerica-Belgrade, Belgrade
  • Duration: February 2012 – January 2015
  • Executing Organization: Action for Children in Crisis (ACC) and Zdravo da ste (ZDS)
  • Outputs:
    1) Implementation of workshop designed on the actual needs of the target group.
    2) Periodical Regular Confirmation of the development inner change of the children.
    3) Acquisition of the ability among ZDS Youth Group to initiate workshop based on the psychological study.
    4) Improved mutual understandings with empathy in the neighborhood and the different groups of beneficiaries for increased involvement of other vulnerable groups contribute to social integration.
