Based on the assistance policies of the Japanese government, JICA aims to promote the consolidation of peace, improve basic infrastructure damaged due to the civil war, and increase the fulfillment of basic human needs (BHN) of residents in the conflict-affected areas. Moreover, in the regions with high potential for development, JICA aims to contribute to the reduction the poverty of the people of Sudan through assistance for the diversification of industry, including agriculture.
JICA approaches the following issues and programs for Sudan.
1) Consolidation of Peace
Through the improved fulfillment of basic human needs (BHN) in the conflict-affected areas, JICA aims to promote the consolidation of peace and the strengthening trust between the government and people through the improved fulfillment of basic human needs in the conflict-affected areas.
2) Assistance for Basic Human Needs (BHNs)
JICA promotes improving the capabilities of government organizations in health, water, environment, and vocational training fields through the establishment of development models. The aim is to contribute to the achievement of development goals (SDGs) in Sudan.
3) Diversification of Industry (Agriculture)
JICA aims to contribute to the development of alternative industries to allow Sudan to break away from its dependency on oil. JICA works towards the development of the agricultural sector, which has significant potential for development. JICA also supports the promotion of trade.
