On September 27th, 2022 at JICA Head Quarters, Tokyo, Mr. YAMANAKA Shinichi, JICA's Senior Vice President, Director General of Southeast Asia and Pacific Department, and staff members, received a delegation of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) visitors. The TICA delegation, headed by Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General, introduced the first two Thai volunteers dispatched to Japan under TICA's Friends from Thailand (FFT) Programme. For this trial batch, JICA HQ, JICA Thailand Office and relevant parties also supported TICA in many processes to make it possible.
The two FFT volunteers have been dispatched to Kushiro City, Hokkaido and Kumamoto Prefectures for 3 months as International Tourism Promotion Officers. Both JICA and TICA have some ideas for the next batch of the dispatch with a longer period and will have further discussions for mutual understanding and a smooth process in the future.
On the same occasion, TICA's Director-General and JICA's Director General of Southeast Asia and Pacific Department signed an amendment of the Partnership Arrangement between TICA and JICA, which will be extended for 5 years. Both JICA and TICA expect future cooperation which should lead to fruitful outcomes for both countries.
