JICA Tsukuba Annual Events Open to the Public

From viewpoint of JICA PR to promote the use of JICA facilities by public, annually JICA Tsukuba is holding the following programs which is open to the public. detailed information is posted in the events information of JICA Tsukuba website from time to time, if you are interested to these public events, please feel free to contact us:

1.Science and Technology Week

This is a unified event for the citizen of Tsukuba city held every year in April while various programs such lectures and exhibitions to the public are taking place at the research institutes of Tsukuba Science City

JICA Tsukuba is also open to the public and offers a variety range of themed exhibitions related to the world, participatory programs for agricultural experiences, and hands-on experiences of national costumes from around the world. Besides, in the JICA restaurant (NERICA) menu the ethnic cuisine is serving where the public have the chance to interact with the JICA trainees. 2.Tsukuba Little Doctor (Chibiko Hakase)

A unified public event for elementary and junior high school students throughout the Tsukuba City is held every year during the school summer vacation from late July to end of August.

This is a participatory event (stamp rally) where the students experience cutting-edge technology and natural science at the research institutes in the city with a passport distributed to them at school by Tsukuba City.

Depending on the number of stamps collected during the visits to the Tsukuba City, students will be certified as a Tsukuba Little Doctor “Chibiko Hakase" by Tsukuba City

3.Rice Planting & Harvesting Festival

This is an exchange program between the participants invited from different countries around the world by JICA Tsukuba and citizens related to the “Shinto ritual” associated with traditional rice cultivation in Japan.

During the rice planting in middle of May and rice harvesting in late September, citizens experiencing rice cultivation and interact with the participants from all over the world.
