The coronavirus pandemic has upended the daily lives of people around the world. Each day we are learning ways to adapt to working from home as we social distance and self-quarantine in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. JICA Turkey Office is also one of the overseas offices, which have started teleworking since the mid-March.

We are taking the opportunity of video conferences for our public relations. Mr. Takada, Representative of our office made a presentation in an event "Toruko-jin ni kiite miyou !! (Let's ask questions to people in Turkey!!)", which was held by connecting Yokoze town in Saitama Prefecture., Japan, so as to introduce the culture of Turkey on April 24, 2020. The organizer was Mr. Katsumata, former Representative of JICA Turkey Office and seconded to Yokoze town last year. Besides the presentation, Dr. Özdamar, Senior Program Officer, and Mr. Bekin, Program Officer, introduced Turkish clothes and played the traditional musical instrument, "Ney".

During the presentation, some of the participants asked questions, such as "Do Turkish people like dancing in festivals, marriage and other ceremonies?". In addition, the importance of April 23, which was gifted to the children by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey and commemorating the 100th Year of the National Grand Assembly held in Ankara on April 23, was explained.
