Three years after the successful completion of the JICA Master Plan Project for Creation of a National Geospatial Data Infrastructure in Ukraine, the representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre (StateGeoCadaster) gathered again on November 23, 2021 to sign a Record of Discussions for the new technical cooperation project "Capacity Development Project for Utilizing the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure". The signing ceremony took place at the premises of the StateGeoCadaster in Kyiv. The signer from the JICA side was Mr. Satoshi Sugimoto, the Resident Representative of JICA Ukraine Office; while Ukrainian side was represented by the acting Head of StateGeoCadaster, Mr. Serhii Zavadskyi and the Temporarily Acting Director of the Research Institute for Geodesy and Cartography, Mr. Stanislav Domin.

In the signing ceremony the Parties exchanged their mutual expectations for the cooperation. Mr. Zavadskyi expressed a deep gratitude to JICA for the technical support and opportunity to implement the new Project. Mr. Sugimoto shared the Japanese side's expectations and explained the basic concept of JICA's technical cooperation. "We are extremely glad that the previous NSDI Project has led to such important outcomes as the adoption of NSDI Law in Ukraine. "We strongly expect Ukrainian side's initiative for the further development of NSDI establishment and view our parties as equal partners who will achieve the tangible results through mutual efforts, rather than through ‘teacher-student' mode." - Mr.Sugimoto explained.
