Yemen

Yemen

Yemen is one of the poorest countries and the furthest behind in development among Arab countries. In addition to improvements on basic living standards such as education and health, development issues in Yemen include fostering industry to create employment opportunities, training human resources through occupational training and other means, creating a legal system to increase foreign investment, and strengthening the aid absorptive capacity of the government. Given the expanded and more diverse range of assistance needs recently, JICA has been focusing support on human resource development, health care and socioeconomic infrastructure, from the perspective that development assistance is vital to improve the lives of Yemen residents and to develop the economy. JICA is also strengthening assistance for anti-piracy measures.
