National Transmission Lines and Grid Stations Strengthening Project

Currently, Pakistan is suffering from huge short-fall of electricity leading to several hours of load shedding throughout the country. The situation is further exacerbated by high rate of system loss including transmission and distribution losses which are much higher than the neighboring countries. In order to improve the situation, this project has been planned to improve reliability and efficiency of power supply by newly constructing and upgrading prioritized 500kV and 220 kV transmission lines and grid stations in Punjab and Sindh Provinces thereby contributing to economic development and improvement of living standards of local residents of these provinces.

Project Summary

This project includes the construction of four Grid Stations including 500 kV Grid Stations at New Lahore (Punjab) and Shikarpur (Sindh) and 220 kV Grid Stations at Gujrat and Chistian (Punjab) along with associated transmission lines.

Project Highlights

The construction of new 500kV grid station at New Lahore involves land acquisition, supply and installation of transformers and other equipment and to construct related 500kV and 220 kV transmission lines. Construction of 220kV Grid Stations at Gujrat and Chistian also involve construction of new Grid Stations and related 220kV transmission lines. New 500kV Grid Station at Shikarpur includes construction of grid station and 500kV and 220kV transmission lines.
