JICA Training Program

Follow-up scheme for ex-participants

JICA offers the following post-training services in order to keep in contact with Ex-participants, enhance friendly relations, and provide the latest technical information.

1. Technical Follow-up Service

Follow-up teams study the needs of each recipient country and assess the effect of training in Japan. The information obtained through dispatching such mission is used as building blocks for more effective training program. Some of these teams hold open seminars for ex-participants and other organization/officials concerned.

2. Alumni Association

The expected functions of Alumni are to encourage friendships among alumni, promote cultural and human interchange with Japan, and to facilitate JICA's development programs in the respective countries. They are managed by ex-participants on a voluntary basis, while JICA provides financial support.

3. Technical Literature

JICA provides each alumnus with English language periodicals and technical publications containing the latest technical information for one or two years after their return home.

4. "Hardware" and "Software" type Follow-up Cooperation

In order to enable ex-participants to fully utilize the technical expertise they gained in Japan, JICA may supply equipment and/or provide financial support (for seminars, workshops, research and study or publish educational materials and manuals) to the organizations to which they belong, if it is deemed necessary for enhancement of the training results.

5. Publication of "JICA Network"

In order to maintain close contact between Alumni (ex-participants) and JICA and among alumni themselves, JICA publishes a magazine titled JICA Network. This magazine has information on trends in Japanese culture and society, the latest developments in science and technology, alumni association activities, and letters from alumni. JICA Network is published and distributed biannually to each ex-participant for two years after they return home.
