Activities in Bangladesh

The Project for Technical Development to Upgrade Structural Integrity of Buildings in Densely Populated Urban Areas and its Strategic Implementation towards Resilient Cities

Project Summary

Objective:

To reduce disaster risk and promote urban safety of Dhaka which shall be achieved through accomplishing advanced research conducted by Bangladeshi and Japanese institutes and universities

Outputs:

  1. understanding of building characteristics governing its performance,
  2. performance evaluation methodology of buildings against collapse,
  3. retrofit schemes for buildings with low performance and
  4. effective urban planning strategies for sustainable and resilient cities.
  5. contribution to the capacity development as well as the advancement of research for both Bangladeshi and Japanese research institute involved in the Project.
