Message from the Director General

Thank you for visiting the JICA Tokyo website.

Since its establishment in 1985, JICA Tokyo has played a role as a venue for creating a variety of Co-Creations. JICA Tokyo is one of the largest of JICA’s domestic offices, and provides Knowledge Co-Creation Programs for the future leaders such as government officials of developing countries and regions.
Together with the people in Tokyo, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Niigata and Nagano, we also act as a nexus between Japan and the rest of the world and as a place for ‘co-creation’.
We provide support for development education, including training for Japanese teachers to experience issues not just in Japan, but also worldwide , and to think about how they can work together to find solutions and apply them in the classroom. We also support the recruitment of JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and their activities after their return to Japan.

We are also working with local communities to ‘co-create’ ideas and solutions to create a multiculturally inclusive society by tackling related issues such as the employment of foreign workers, implementing the unique perspective that JICA retains. In an increasingly globalized world, issues in Japan are intricately related to that of other countries, and there is a growing need to address them both from a global perspective.
JICA Tokyo is committed to enhancing its role as a nexus between the people of the region and the people of the world.

Please feel free to visit JICA Tokyo. We look forward to your visit and would like to express our gratitude for your continued support.

KONYA Kenichi
Director General of JICA Tokyo
