Training program taking advantage of Ibaraki Prefecture's leading capacity of agricultural sector

Ibaraki Prefecture is one of the Japanese leading prefectures in the field of agricultural production. With its advantageous location near from massive consumption center ; Tokyo, the prefecture promotes agricultural activities that meet various needs of urban residents.

At JICA Tsukuba, overseas participants can learn about *Upland rice as well as cutting-edge agricultural technologies including genetic engineering, from top-ranked lecturers.

They can learn from farmers engaging in organic farming and cultivating a wide variety of crops, from private corporations handling agricultural machinery, pesticides, and so on, and from agricultural research institutes.

*Upland rice is particularly cultivated in Ibaraki Prefecture, and has attracted the attention of African countries since it does not require wet rice paddies.
