Murakami hosts an online Judo Sharing experience between Botswana and Japan Judokas

2020.08.21

My name is Rukiya Murakami, JOCV member who was working as a Judo Coach at Botswana Judo Federation.

I held an online event for Judo with Japanese Judo NPO3.0 (name of organization) on Friday, 21st August, 2020 which is called an online cafe. The aim of the event was to introduce Botswana Judo to Japanese Judoka (Judo players) and coaches because I thought it would make Botswana Judokas motivated through such an event. In addition, I wanted to contribute meaningfully to Botswana Judo even in my absence and I tried to share new things from Japan to Botswana. Nowadays, so many things can be done online using ICT mediums especially now during the global Covid-19 pandemic. I am making circuit training online from Japan to Botswana, and then I will to try new by online.

During the event, I made a presentation about history of Judo in Botswana, extension, activity toward Tokyo Olympic 2021 and showed Botswana Judo team pictures and videos, then Botswana Judokas made their speech about Botswana Judo and their goals. Participants were then separated into small groups with Botswana Judoka to engage in a discussion with each other. Finally, some participants gave us some comments about this event. They said they were impressed by this event. I will continue to try many things and therefore, I will continue to support Botswana Judo from now on.
