On 20 October 2022, JICA received the second batch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to Botswana. JICA carries out the JOCV programme in Botswana and other developing countries all over the world by dispatching Japanese citizens who volunteer with high aspirations to cooperate in the economic and social development of developing countries through human resource capacity building. Since 1992 to date, JICA has deployed 420 JOCVs' including the current 8 volunteers in Botswana in areas such as Community Development, Environmental Education, Quality Management and Productivity (KAIZEN), Waste Management, Graphic Design, Vocational Training, Primary school education, ICT etc. This year marks 30 years of JOCV dispatch in Botswana.
