On 23 June, 2025, a ceremony was held at the official residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Djibouti, H.E.M. Keiichi Hara, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in Djibouti. Those in attendance included the Speaker of the National Assembly, H.E.M. Dileita, Minister of Infrastructure and Equipment H.E.M. Hassan, and representatives from the organizations and ministries to which the personnel were dispatched.

Since 2000, JICA has been dispatched volunteers to Djibouti to contribute to its development in various fields, including education, health, and sports. To date, more than 170 volunteers have served in the country, working hand in hand with local communities.

During the recent ceremony, the Ambassador presented letters of commendation to the heads of three institutions; Fukuzawa Junior High School, Dikhil Health Center, Inspectorate Office, that have long supported the JICA Volunteer Program and strengthened the friendship between Djibouti and Japan.
