JICA Supports Medical Equipment towards COVID-19 response.

JICA provided medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS), Fiji in response to COVID-19. Ms. Yukari Ono, JICA Fiji Office, Resident Representative, handed the equipment to Minister for MoHMS, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete at Suva Civic Centre.
The Minister for MoHMS, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete said "he was grateful and appreciative of Japan and JICA's support towards MoHMS in response to fight against COVID-19. These medical equipment will enhance towards a robust and resilient health system".
These equipment are provided to MoHMS as a part of capacity development implementation under the "Project for Improvement of Health Services through 5S-KAIZEN-TQM". The project aims to improve quality of health services at Fijian health facilities though Japanese quality improvement method known as 5S-Kaizen-Total Quality Management (TQM) approach.
Ms. Yukari Ono, mentioned that "COVID-19 pandemic has increasingly spread across the world. Preparedness for COVID-19 is even more important in this global pandemic situation. JICA hopes these through equipment will enhance the important activities of frontline health professionals in fight against the COVID-19 in Fiji".
Personal Protective Equipment, Non-contact Infrared Thermometers, Thermal Scanning System, Emergency Trolley and Hand Sanitizers were equipment handed-over to MoHMS.
