LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION NOW OPEN!

In 2027, the JICA Volunteer Program in Ghana will celebrate its 50th Anniversary.
For 50 years, JICA Volunteers and Ghanaian communities have learned, worked, and grown together. We are now inviting designers, students, artists, and members of the public residing in Ghana to create the official logo for this historic milestone.
Details of the competition are provided below. We warmly encourage all interested individuals to participate and share their creativity in commemorating this important milestone in the history of JICA Ghana.

1. Competition Overview                 

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the JICA Volunteer Program in Ghana, JICA Ghana Office invites submissions for a commemorative logo that symbolizes the friendship, trust, and people-to-people ties that Ghanaian and Japanese people have built together over the past five decades.

The theme of the competition is “Together We Learn, Together We Grow.” Participants are encouraged to create a design that reflects appreciation for the journey of the past 50 years and the enduring human connections that will continue into the future.

The selected logo will serve as the official symbol of the 50th Anniversary and may be used in publicity materials, digital media, and commemorative events related to the Anniversary.

2. Logo Requirements                               
■Mandatory Elements
The logo must clearly include at least one of the following:

  • 50th
  • 50th Anniversary
  • Celebrating 50 Years

■Recommended Elements (Optional)
The following elements are encouraged, but not mandatory:

・A design suitable for commemorating and celebrating the 50th Anniversary
・Abstract expressions of the values and significance of the JICA Volunteer Program
・Themes reflecting partnership, connection, growth, and mutual understanding
・Design inspirations drawn from Ghanaian and/or Japanese culture, identity, or colors
・Inclusion of wording such as “JICA Volunteers” or “JICA Volunteer Program in Ghana”

3. Eligibility                         

The competition is open to all individuals residing in Ghana, including students, designers, artists, youth groups, members of the public, JICA staff, and current or former JICA Volunteers.


4. Submission Method                 
■Required Submission Materials
  • Logo design file (JPEG, PNG, PDF, etc.)
  • Brief explanation of the design concept (approximately 300 words)

  • Please submit your logo design using the same email address provided in the application form.
  • Files exceeding 20 MB and compressed files (e.g. ZIP files) will not be accepted via email.

Both the logo design file and the application form must be submitted by the submission deadline. Entries will be considered complete only after both submissions have been received.


5. Submission Deadline:                 
25th October, 2026

6. Announcement of Results               
The selected design will be announced on 5 November 2026.
The winning designer will be contacted directly. The result will also be published on the JICA Ghana Office website and social media channels.

7. Selection Criteria                  
Entries will be evaluated based on:

・Consistency with the competition concept
・Originality and creativity
・Visibility and versatility
・Alignment with the values and spirit of the JICA Volunteer Program

8. Awards                       
The creator of the winning design will receive:
• A certificate of recognition.
• Acknowledgement in publicity and communication materials related to the 50th Anniversary of the JICA Volunteer Program in Ghana.

9. Conditions for Submitted Works            

Each applicant may submit only one design.

All submissions must be original, unpublished works created by the applicant.
Submitted works must not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.

As the logo will be used in Ghana, any text included in the design must be in English.

The official JICA logo, JICA trademarks, or any similar marks must not be incorporated into the submitted design.

By submitting an entry, applicants declare that the submitted work is their original creation and that all information provided in the submission form is accurate and complete.

Applicants are responsible for obtaining any permissions, licenses, or consents necessary for any elements incorporated into the design.


The following works shall be excluded from consideration:

・Works contrary to public order and morals
・Works that violate laws or regulations, or may do so
・Works intended to promote specific political or religious views
・Works created for commercial purposes
・Works inconsistent with the objectives of the 50th Anniversary celebration
・Any other works deemed inappropriate by the organizer
・If selected, the applicant will be required to sign and submit documents relating to originality, intellectual property rights, transfer of rights, and the use of the selected design before the design can be officially adopted.

10. Use of AI Tools                   

The use of AI-assisted tools, including generative AI, is permitted.

AI tools may be used as a supporting tool; however, the final design must contain substantial human creative input, selection, modification, and decision-making by the applicant.

Applicants who use AI-assisted tools must disclose their use in the submission form.

The organizer may request an explanation of the design process, prompts used, or additional supporting materials where necessary.

Regardless of whether AI tools are used, applicants shall bear full responsibility for ensuring that their submissions do not infringe upon any copyrights, trademarks, portrait rights, privacy rights, or other rights of third parties.

Any design determined to infringe upon the rights of a third party shall be excluded from consideration. If such infringement is discovered after selection, the selection may be revoked.

11. Copyright                     

All copyrights and related rights to the selected design shall belong to the JICA Ghana Office.

The applicant shall not exercise moral rights with respect to the selected design.

The creator of the selected design shall provide editable source files (AI, SVG, PSD, etc.) upon request by the JICA Ghana Office after selection.

The JICA Ghana Office may make minor modifications, including resizing, color adjustment, and layout adjustment, where necessary.

The selected design may be used for activities and communications related to the 50th Anniversary of the JICA Volunteer Program in Ghana.

12. Other Provisions                  

Selection may be revoked if any violation of the application requirements is identified after the results have been announced.

The organizer will not respond to inquiries regarding the evaluation process or selection results.

Personal information provided by applicants, including information submitted through the online form, will be used solely for the administration of the competition and related communications.

The organizer may contact shortlisted applicants to request clarification regarding their submission, including design development processes, intellectual property matters, AI-related disclosures, or other matters related to the evaluation process.
