Tripartite review meeting of JICA ODA projects marks a significant milestone in India-Japan collaboration

New Delhi, August 25, 2023: Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance in collaboration with The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) convened the Tripartite Review Meeting of JICA Official Development Assistance (ODA) Projects on August 24 and 25 in New Delhi. This meeting was held this year after 2018. A testament to the robust partnership between India and Japan, this meeting brought together key stakeholders to review the progress and have an intensive discussion on around 60 ODA loan projects across India by both governments so that timely delivery of the services provided through JICA ODA projects will be successfully achieved.
The two-day meeting commenced with an inaugural session, followed by six sessions on different sectors. Mr. Avanish Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director General of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), delivered the welcome address. Mr. SAITO Mitsunori, Chief Representative of JICA, and Ms. Kyoko Hokugo, Minister from the Embassy of Japan, presented the key addresses and Mr. V. Vumlunmang, Additional Secretary of DEA, delivered the opening remarks.
The review was conducted in sector-wise manner and well performing projects were presented in the beginning to encourage all participants to learn from the good practices. It also included networking session for all participants to interact with each other to build relationships among the agencies across the country. The meeting was successfully concluded with closing remarks from JICA India.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. SAITO Mitsunori, Chief Representative, JICA India Office, said, “JICA takes immense pride in the enduring partnership with India, and the Tripartite Review Meeting is a testament to our commitment to fostering sustainable development in this dynamic nation. Over the years, our projects have made a significant impact, contributing to India's growth story. I hope that this meeting contributes to strengthening the implementation of international cooperation projects between Japan and India. India continues to be JICA's largest partner in the world. As we continue to work towards building a better future for all, the critical thing is to focus on the smooth implementation of projects and the speedy delivery of development benefits to the people.”
