2025.09.16

National, September 16 2025: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) successfully concluded a four-day Infrastructure Management Business Study Tour in India, held in early September. The initiative aimed to strengthen collaboration between Japanese companies and Indian stakeholders in addressing critical infrastructure challenges and advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Jointly organized by JICA Headquarters’ Private Sector Partnership and Finance Department and the JICA India Office, the study tour brought together representatives from seven Japanese companies with cutting-edge expertise in disaster risk reduction, water management, infrastructure maintenance, and smart technologies.

The delegation engaged with key Indian government agencies, industry associations, and infrastructure sites across Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. Participating companies included Tenchijin Inc., Oji India Business Development & Management Pvt. Ltd., GIKEN LTD., SkymatiX Inc., MAP IV Inc., Spectee Inc., and Liberaware Co., Ltd. Their technologies ranged from AI-powered water leakage detection systems and real-time disaster information platforms to innovative piling machinery, drone-based surveying tools, and advanced 3D visualization technologies supporting urban planning and infrastructure safety.

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with institutions such as JETRO New Delhi, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, National Disaster Management Authority, and Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited. These interactions provided a platform for knowledge exchange and exploration of potential partnerships that align with India’s infrastructure priorities.

Commenting on the program, participants shared that the tour provided a profound understanding of the unique challenges and complexities inherent to India. Rather than a simple business market inspection, it offered a deeply immersive experience into the multifaceted and authentic realities of the country, making it an exceptionally meaningful and insightful journey.

The study tour is expected to pave the way for pilot initiatives, joint feasibility studies, and future collaborations through JICA’s Private Sector Partnership and SDGs Business Supporting Survey (JICA Biz) programs, reinforcing Japan-India cooperation in creating resilient, sustainable, and inclusive infrastructure.
