Emergency Grant Aid (expediting implementation)
JICA has been undertaking cooperation in order to expedite the implementation of the Emergency grant aid projects to Iraq since 2004.
(1) Electricity
- Provision of 23 mobile substations throughout Iraq (around $ 70 million)
- Rehabilitation of Taji Gas Turbine Power Station (Unit No. 2,3 & 5) (around $ 66 million)
- Rehabilitation of Mosul Gas Turbine Power Station (Unit No. 1 & 3) (around $42 million)
- Rehabilitation of Mosul Hydroelectric Power Station (around $ 52 million)
- Construction of a diesel power station (60 MW) in Al-Samawah (around $ 118 million)
(2) Health / Medical care
- Rehabilitation of and provision of equipment to 4 general hospitals in the South (Nasiriyah, Najaf, Diwaniyah, and Samawah) (around $51million)
- Rehabilitation of and provision of equipment to 4 general hospitals in the North (Kirkuk, Arbil, Mosul, Dahuk) (around $68 million)
- Rehabilitation of and provision of equipment to 3 general hospitals in the Central Region (Baghdad, Amarah and Kut) (around $46 million)
(3) Water / Sanitation
- Provision of compact units to the city of Baghdad (around $55 million)
(4) telecommunication
- Improvement of trunk communications network (around $65 million)
- Improvement of transit switches for telecommunication (around $33 million)
