JICA Scholarship Alumni in Namibia Strengthen Networks and Leadership
The JICA Scholarship Alumni Association of Namibia (JSAAN) held its alumni meeting on 11 December 2025 in Windhoek, bringing together JICA alumni to strengthen networking, promote collaboration, and deepen ties with Japan. The meeting was officially opened by a representative of the JICA Namibia Office, who emphasized the importance of maintaining an active and engaged alumni network.
Key discussions included an initial review of the JSAAN Constitution. Members agreed to continue the review process at the next meeting to ensure the association’s framework remains responsive and effective. Planned activities highlighted during the meeting included the induction of new JICA scholars, the welcoming of returning participants, volunteer support for incoming scholars, and the development of a participant database to enhance alumni connectivity, with due consideration given to consent and appropriate information sharing.
Participants also underscored the importance of strengthening engagement with Japanese companies and local Japanese communities, participating in Japanese cultural events, and enhancing information sharing and cooperation with the Embassy of Namibia in Japan and other relevant institutions. Office bearers were unanimously endorsed during the meeting, and the association’s leadership structure was formally confirmed. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of JSAAN’s strong commitment to supporting JICA’s mission of capacity development and international cooperation.
