Message from the Chief Representative

Thank you for visiting JICA Palau Office website.
I am Tsunenori Aoki, the Chief Representative.

Palau, also known as Belau, is a rich natural Pacific Island nation made up of over 300 islands and 18,000 inhabitants.

JICA, an implementing agency of Japan's Official Development Assistance, began its cooperation to Palau in the 1980s. With the understanding of the Palauan people, it has been our great pleasure to contribute to Palauan society through the construction of key public infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, road, airport, fishing port, and landfill; technical cooperation in a wide range of fields including environment, health, education, and industrial promotion; and the scholarship and trainings in Japan. Please visit JICA Cooperation in Palau:パラオにおけるJICAの取り組み - YouTube .

Currently, we are working on three main areas of focus: 1) Realizing a sustainable ocean, 2) Strengthening social infrastructure and industrial development infrastructure, supporting private investment, and human resource development, and 3) Addressing climate change, environmental issues, and disaster prevention. We hope you will visit our Facebook , where we post our activities from time to time.

Palau has deep historical and cultural ties with Japan, is close to Japan, and has no time difference between Palau and Japan.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you to Palau. Please visit this site 【Palau×Connectivity】PPP project opens up the Gateway to the World - YouTube .

In 2027, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of JICA Palau office and the start of the dispatch of JICA volunteers to Palau. We will continue to promote our projects for the benefit of the future of Palauan people and to become a friendship bridge between Palau and Japan.
