JICA Volunteers conducted Gender Education Training for teachers

2024.03.01

On 1st March 2024, JICA Volunteers conducted a gender education training for teachers at the Sogeri Primary School.

This was a part of JICA volunteers’ activities to allow teachers to define the gender issues faced in the communities, homes and classrooms. The training included a short video and group discussions on gender issues and possible actions that the teachers and wider community could take to address the issues.

A Gender Equality & Social Inclusion Officer from the National Department of Education was also present to support JICA volunteers in observing this training and to make suggestions to further improve the training in the coming years.

March has been internationally recognized as the month for women, a time to call for action and a time to celebrate milestones achieved in addressing these gender issues faced in the world. Hence, JICA PNG Office commends our JICA volunteers for the initiative to create an avenue for free and open dialogue amongst educators at primary school level.
