Mr. Will Genia, World Famous Rugby Union Player Visits JICA Office

On 28^th August, Mr. Sanchez William Genia (Will Genia), a professional rugby union player from Papua New Guinea (PNG), visited JICA PNG Office. Mr. Will Genia is a professional rugby union player who had previously played Super Rugby for the Queensland Reds and Melbourne Rebels, Stade Francais in France’s Top 14, and currently playing for Hanazono Kintetsu Liners in Japan since 2019. He made his debut for the Wallabies in 2009 and has earned 110 international caps including Rugby World Cup in 2011, 2015, and 2019.

The visit of Mr. Genia was realized with the cooperation of Hanazono Kintetsu Liners as part of PR activities celebrating 50^th anniversary of Japan’s ODA in PNG. During his visit to JICA PNG Office, Mr. MATSUOKA Hideaki, Chief Representative of JICA PNG Office introduced the JICA’s activities in PNG and Mr. Genia expressed his surprise at the Japan’s long-standing cooperation in the country and gave a powerful message of cooperation in promotion of public relations in both Japan and PNG.

JICA PNG Office deeply appreciates Mr. and Mrs. Genia for their visit and cooperation from Hanazono Kintetsu Liners.

JICA PNG will continue to contribute to the socio-economic development of PNG and to strengthen its relationship between the two countries.
