On 13 December 2024, a Gender Based Violence (GBV) Program Specialist from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) was invited by JICA to conduct a seminar on “Saying No to Sexual Misconduct” at the JICA PNG Office.

JICA staff and volunteers participate in a short game to identify different power relations amongst different people. This game also helped them to identify existing vulnerable groups and reinforce the importance of JICA staff and Volunteers to uphold ethical behavior at all times when implementing JICA’s activities in the country.

JICA volunteers and all JICA PNG Office staff attended the seminar. This two-hour seminar saw participants actively engage in small group discussions and games. The feedbacks from the participants highlight that they become able to grasp and differentiate between the basic concepts of “sexual exploitation”, “sexual abuse” and “sexual harassment” as well as become keenly aware of the importance of Power Relationship when analyzing sexual misconducts.
