Ministry of Finance & Treasury (MoFT) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) successfully concludes the third training workshop for Public Investment Management (PIM).

The Solomon Islands Government through the Ministry of Finance & Treasury (MoFT) in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Japan’s Technical Cooperation has successfully completed the third (and the last) training workshop on economic and financial analysis for public investment in July 2023.

During the on-site mission in June through July 2023, a five-day training workshop was held for the participants from MoFT, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID), and the Ministry of National Planning & Development Coordination (MNPDC). During the workshop, two actual cases from energy and aviation sectors were intensively covered, with a view to training the participants for constructing cash flows and calculating the performance indicators for the actual applications. At the end of the workshop, a final examination was conducted for issuing certificates for completion.

This intensive workshop was also followed by supplementary OJTs covering the cases of the transport sector, as well as the financial statement analysis for State Owned Enterprises.

The practical aspects of the trainings were highly appreciated by the participants, and going forward, the tools and skills learned on this opportunity are expected to be fully utilized in further improving the quality of analysis as a part of the project appraisal in the Solomon Islands government.
