(1) Our History

We:
Agreed the dispatch of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in 1969. Started Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in 1970. Opened the office for Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers coordinators in 1979. Arranged the technical cooperation, signed in 1985 and made it effective in 1987. Opened Japan International Cooperation Agency Syria Office in 1990.

(4) Priority Areas for the Japanese Technical Cooperation:

The 10th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) was introduced in the context of furnishing Syrian economy and society with the capability to meet the increasing demands and requirements of the 21st Century where the political and economic relations at both international and regional levels have become more and more inter-dependent and complex.

The Government of Japan has decided the priority areas for cooperation and JICA has accordingly set-up cooperation programs as follows:
