Background and Objective
The population of Istanbul, as the biggest economy center of Turkey, is increasing year by year. Therefore, the traffic condition became very serious problem due to increase in the number of vehicles, number of accidents, and the amount of exhaust gas. This project is targeted for capacity building in Traffic Demand Management to tackle with these problems.
Project Description
The project will start with conducting traffic survey, traffic facilities survey and questionnaire survey etc. Following the analysis of survey results, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department’s capacity will be strengthened through practical implementation procedures (planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and analyzing) of social experiments of TDM measures.
Istanbul is suffering with chronic traffic.
