I am Oliver Nabiryo, a Program Officer from SASAKAWA Africa Association in Uganda. I've recently embarked on a remarkable journey in Japan, through the prestigious Knowledge Co-creation Participant (KCCP) training, courtesy of JICA. I've had the privilege to dive headfirst into the heart of Japanese agriculture, exploring vibrant landscapes, engaging with innovative farmers, and uncovering sustainable farming techniques that are shaping the global agricultural landscape.

My adventure led me through the enchanting landscapes of Toyama Prefecture, where the fusion of tradition and innovation captivated me. From the intricate tapestry of sustainable farming practices to witnessing cutting-edge technologies like smart farming, Japan's dedication to sustainable agricultural production left me in awe.

Beyond the fields, I immersed myself in the richness of Japanese culture in its purest form. The rhythms of traditional dance performances, the tantalizing aromas of authentic Japanese cuisines, and the sheer delight of attending the Mickey Mouse Festival – each moment was a testament to Japan's cultural splendor, rekindling my childlike wonder.

Yet, the true essence of my journey lay in the friendships forged during lectures and hands-on sessions. Alongside kindred spirits from Angola, Zambia, Liberia, and beyond, we explored the city's wonders, delved into historical treasures like the Gokayama Heritage, shared hearty meals and refreshing drinks, and embraced the coastal beauty. Each experience became a chapter in our collective story, celebrating unity in diversity.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, trainers, and my fellow trainees. Your wisdom, kindness, and contagious laughter illuminated my days, transforming this adventure into an extraordinary odyssey. As I return home, my heart brims not only with newfound knowledge but also with boundless joy. Here's to growth, lifelong learning, and the limitless horizons of our shared agricultural future!
