Job Matching Event for Evacuees from Ukraine in Japan Using Donation
2024.09.06
On September 6, 2024, JICA conducted a job matching event between evacuess from Ukraine and Japanese companies.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, more than 8 million Ukrainians have fled their country. Currently, approximately 2,000 people are displaced in Japan, and many Ukrainian students who studied in Japan before and after the invasion are also forced to stay in Japan as they are unable to return home.
The Japanese government and various organizations are providing a wide range of assistance to them, but the prolonged war diversified the support needed. In addition, various types of support from different organizations have been decreasing. JICA held this event to contribute to the resolution of these issues.
This job matching event brought 13 companies interested in Ukraine and about 60 evacuess from Ukraine in Japan. The event focused on free conversation with each company, and participants actively interacted with the companies based on the information they had received in advance. Participants commented that they would like to take the first step in their career by taking advantage of the event in anticipation of employment at this time, and participating companies also expressed their hope that the candidates would be an asset to their future business expantion.
