Young Leaders' Training Program in Japan

The Young Leaders' Training Programme (formerly Japan-Latin America Friendship Programme) has seen Jamaicans participating for several years now studying in Japan in the following areas:

  • Education (Primary & Lower Secondary School Teachers)
  • Social Security (Disabilities' Programme Leaders)
  • Agriculture/Rural Development (FY2008)

Implemented by JICA, the Young Leaders' Training Programme in Japan focuses on future leaders from the Latin American and the Caribbean Region, providing them with the following opportunities to:

  • Develop their own specialized field through experiencing and learning technologies and skills in Japan
  • Increase their willingness to resolve issues on their own
  • Cultural interaction
  • Building bridges of friendship
  • Laying the foundation with other future leaders who will make a positive contribution in their own respective countries in nation building.
  • Foster long-lasting relationships of peace and prosperity based upon mutual understanding through exchange between the youth of Latin America and the Caribbean and Japan.
