Secretariat Activities

The Secretariat office updates the core Ex-participants database and the membership list. The updating includes the current addresses, organisations, position held and the contact telephone numbers. This is an exercise that is continuous as the personal contacts keep changing. JEPAK will use all means available at its disposal − through print media and mail to get the current contacts.

The membership recruitment drive is currently going on. This is being done through mail, telephone, e-mail and print media. So far the membership number stands at 959. There has been an increase of a bout 540 new members since the launch of the Secretariat Office in October 2000. JEPAK is intensifying the recruitment through a communication network through its members working in institutions that have had technical cooperation with JICA.

JEPAK Secretariat Office offers assistance in form of advice and guidance to the Kenyans who have been accepted to train in Japan. This approach is important because the trainees settle down quickly for studies when they arrive in Japan.

Since the launch of the Secretariat, 15 quarterly newsletters have been dispatched to the members. Five Annual Newsletters have been published and dispatched to the members. The Secretariat also collects articles for the future newsletters. The letters requesting for the articles are regularly
