On 12th of November, 2021, the first republican forum of JDS Fellows was conducted in Bishkek. JDS is "Project for Human Resources Development Scholarship", which provides opportunities to study MS or Ph.D in Japan, started in 2006. JDS Fellows invited Government officials, in particularly, Head of Department on President Decisions Preparation, Mr. Ergeshov Altynbek, Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Maeda Shigeki, and JICA Representatives to the event. JDS Fellows shared their experience, results of their studies in Japan and achievements after coming back. This Forum also served as a great platform for tightening the networking among them. Mr. Ergeshov noted that JDS Fellows acquired knowledge in one of the most developed countries of the world and their contribution will lead to the development of Kyrgyzstan. He also noted that JDS Fellow are pride of Kyrgyzstan and they can strengthen the mutual relations between Kyrgyzstan and Japan.

Mr. Maeda also noted that Japanese side will be glad if JDS Fellows will positively impact on the economy of Kyrgyzstan.

Prior to the event, JDS Fellows visited the memorial site "Ata-Beiit" in order to pay tribute to the fathers-constitutors who stood up for the nationhood of Kyrgyzstan.

JICA Alumni Association is planning to conduct such forums on a regular basis. This is important for exchange of opinions on different sectors' development, information exchange and strengthen networks among JDS Fellows.

As for today, more around 250 civil and municipal servants from the Kyrgyz Republic had opportunities to study in the leading Japanese universities through JDS.

Human Resources Development is one of the main directions of JICA activities in Kyrgyzstan.
