Food safety improvement through introduction HACCP principals on production site

Food safety inspectors from the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted a second inspection trial for a dairy processing company "Sutash" in Chui region on November 24, 2022 within the framework of the Project for the Improvement of Human Resources in Food Laboratories to Improve the Quality of Milk and Dairy products (FLAQUM Project).

The inspectors conducted the first inspection trial at the company in February 2022, led by a HACCP expert from Japan. Both inspections were done based on the seven principles of HACCP and Japanese HACCP checklists were used at the production site. Besides, inspectors shared their experience and knowledge on HACCP with the employees of the company.

The purpose of such a trial inspection is to train the inspection staff to conduct inspections according to the checklist to identify critical risk points in production. High-quality inspection of production processes, identification of shortcomings and their timely elimination will help the company ensure the safety of products.

The staff of "Sutash", Ms. Zhypara Zhaichibekova, Food security system manager noted the importance and effectiveness of the inspection trial and consultation. According to her, based on the recommendations of the inspectors, the company began using practical knowledge of HACCP in its production. Also monitoring of production processes has been improved by the introduction of a checklist and logbooks.

FLAQUM Project is planning to carry out one more inspection trial in a different dairy processing company.
