The Chief Representative of JICA Malaysia office met with the Director-General of MMEA on 20 June 2022 in order to discuss strategic international cooperation programmes to be implemented jointly in 2022 onwards.

In particular, JICA and MMEA agreed to launch an international training program entitled "Capacity Enhancement for Coast Guard Officers", to be organised under the framework of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, as well as the Third Country Training Programme supported by JICA.

Besides, the meeting touched upon a number of important capacity building programmes and technical exchange programmes to be conducted both in Japan and Malaysia.

JICA, in close collaboration with its strategic partner the Japan Coast Guard, will further enhance its cooperation with MMEA so as to contribute to capacity building of coast guard officers in Southeast Asia and elsewhere.
