Technical Cooperation Project (TCP)

Tailor made cooperation responding to individual needs (Achieving Development Objectives)

JICA Technical Cooperation Projects (TCP) are implemented for a fix period of time (usually between one to five years ) to achieve specific objectives for addressing issues of the recipient countries. TCP is participatory designed and implemented, involving various stakeholders to ensure that local concerns and know-how is incorporated at the appropriate stage and time, and to ensure the ownership and sustainability of these projects.

For the TCP project to be efficient in resource utilization and effective in attaining its objectives, multiple schemes are being utilized to implement the TCP project. The inputs could be the mix of all three or any components such as;

  • Dispatching experts from Japan
  • Provision of necessary equipments
  • Training for personnel from the counterpart organization/Ministry

The above components are interlinked so as to realize a form of technical cooperation in which every aspect (from the formulation of plans to their execution and evaluation ) falls within a fully integrated whole.

Scale and implementation plans of a project are drawn up based on forecasts of the capacity of the organization responsible for implementing the project in the recipient country. Once the cooperation period is over, the recipient country is expected to continue the project independently.
