Activities in Papua New Guinea

The 1st Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting took place on the 3rd of July 2015

On the 3rd of July 2015, the 1st JCC meeting took place at the meeting room of Conservation and Environment Protection Authority (CEPA) in Port Moresby. JCC is the highest management body for the Project to facilitate inter-organizational coordination, approve the Work Plan, monitor the project progress and exchange opinions on major issues that arise during the project period. Mr. Gunther Joku, the Managing Director of CEPA, who is the Project Director, was appointed as the Chair of JCC, and Mr. Shigeru Sugiyama, the Chief Representative of the JICA PNG Office, was appointed as the Co-Chair. Representatives from the Central Provincial Administration, Kairuku-Hiri District Administration and Koiari Local-level Government(LLG) were present as members.

Prior to the meeting, on the 14th of June 2015, four JICA experts have reached to Port Moresby to implement the Project with CEPA. They had a series of meetings with CEPA counterparts to jointly formulate the Work Plan. Mr. Fredrick Ohmana, the CEPA Project Coordinator, and Mr. Koji Asano, the JICA Chief Advisor, gave a presentation about the Work Plan to the members of JCC. After discussions on the major issues in the Work Plan, it was accepted unanimously by JCC.

JCC meeting was agreed to be held at least once annually and whenever deems necessary. The next meeting is planned to be taken place next year.
