OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

Contribute to improve the teaching environment of elementary and lower secondary school in Dakar and Thies regions.

PROJECT SUMMARY

JICA has started its intervention in the education sector since 1991. A particular emphasis is placed in the sector of education, considered as a high priority in order to contribute to the improvement of the educational system in Senegal.
With a total cost of 1 213 000 000 Yen approximately 6 840 000 000 CFA, this project will allow the construction of 266 classrooms in 12 primary schools and 19 lower secondary schools in the regions of Dakar and Thies.
In total, 2 300 classrooms were built by Japan since the beginning of the cooperation.
