The Government of Senegal has adopted a long-term national development strategy, Vision Sénégal 2050, which aims to achieve a structural transformation of the economy and society by 2050. With a population estimated at approximately 18.5 million and growing steadily, the country recorded an economic growth rate of 6.9% in 2024. To support this development momentum and respond to the evolving needs of the population, JICA focuses its assistance on six priority areas : (1) Development of high-quality infrastructure for industrial development, (2) Human resource development for industry, (3) Agriculture and rural development, (4) Sustainable fisheries development, (5) Universal Health Coverage (UHC) support and strengthening, and (6) Improvement of basic education.
