ABE Initiative program (Masters)
Objectives :
- 1 . To foster human resources for industry and business that will contribute to and sustain Africa’s economic growth.
- 2 . To foster human resources who can become a bridge, connecting businesses in Japan and Africa.
Target Participants :
- 1 . Age: Under 40 as a general rule.

From the Private Sector
- Those who have an experience in economic activities in the local private sectors and wish to contribute to Africa’s development through cultivating strong network with Japanese companies. -

From Government (Related to areas of interest of Japanese companies)
- Those who take part in formulation and/or implementation of industrial policies and wish to contribute to Africa’s development through government activities.

Objectives :
- 1 . To develop high level human resources capable of contributing to sound policy decisions and their effective implementation to address political and developmental challenges in their respective fields.
- 2 . To establish and maintain mid-to-long-term collaborative relationships between the target countries and Japan.
Target participants :
- 1 . Age: for master’s programs, thirty-five (35) years of age or under in principle (As of April 1, the year of enrolment). for Ph.D. programs, forty (40) years of age or under in principle (As of April 1, the year of enrolment).

Young or middle-career government officials, prospective academics, who are expected to contribute to policy formulation or its implementation for tackling sustainable developmental issues in respective fields.
※ In principle, candidates without affiliations are not eligible for acceptance. Age: Under 40 as a general rule.

JDS - The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (Masters)
Objectives :
- 1 . Transforming knowledge gained in Japan into solutions for national challenges: Upon returning to their home countries, JDS fellows are expected to take leadership roles in central government positions, applying their specialized knowledge gained in Japan to engage in policy formulation and implementation of social and economic development policies.
- 2 . Strengthen Bilateral relations: The program aims to strengthen networks with government officials and other key stakeholders in Japan while fostering sustainable bilateral relations between Japan and partner countries as trusted allied for the mid-long term.
Target Participants :
- 1 . Age: Between 22 and 45 years old
- 2 . Be a Government (permanent) employee in the target organizations and have 4 years or more of work experience at his/her belonging organizations.
