• Reinforcement of capacity planning of the Ministry;
• Infrastructure management improvement carried out by JICA.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The encouragement of the sustainable development in the fishery sector is one of the pillars of JICA Senegal.
For Senegal, fishing is an important source of income that justifies the strong support of the Japanese Government since the beginning of the cooperation between the two countries.
Thus, several technical and grant aid projects are being executed, it is in this framework that a technical advisor is assigned to the Ministry of Fishery and Maritim Affairs to facilitate the relations between the two governments and extend the technical cooperation in the formulation of national policies and strategies of the fishery sector in Senegal.
He gives advice to the formulation of new requests for projects and activities in the fishery sector.
He supports the promotion of the « program for a sustainable fishery » of JICA, he shares the information related to the policy and program of JICA with the structures of department as well as the other financial partners, professionals associations, research institutes and universities. He participates to the meetings of thematic group of fishing of financial partners for contribute to a good coordination.
The advisor supports the improvement and the monitoring of the fishing management infrastructures realized by JICA.
