Improvement of access to health services for populations in target regions.

PROJECT SUMMARY

In the five-year action plan launched at the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) held in May 2008 in Yokohama at Japan, the Government of Japan placed the improvement of access to health services in the high priorities. These commitments have been realized through the achievement of health infrastructures.
In Senegal, this achievement involved the construction of three health centers in Dianke Makha, Maka Coulibantang and Saraya and the regional health training center of Tambacounda.
The construction of these health structures and the supply of equipments for a total cost of about 1.662 billion Yen, contribute to the improvement of the quality of services and health indicators.
In total 154,000 peoples take advantage of the project.
In addition, it ensures the safety of people especially pregnant women and newborns. The centers also benefit the neighboring countries, which is a real lever for regional development.
