IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

This project aims to construct bridges on the Faleme (Border Senegal-Mali), the Bafing and Bale (both in Malian territory).

PROJECT SUMMARY

In the Plan of Actions for the next five years, initiated at the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV), held in September 2008 in Japan, the Government of Japan placed the regional transportation infrastructure, in the high priorities. These commitments made in 2008, have been realized through the development of corridor Bamako-Dakar by the south which incorporates the "Community Action Program of Infrastructure and Road Transport" (PACITR) of the UEMOA. The construction of these bridges at a cost of 670,000,000 Yen helped to ensure the fluidity of movement throughout the year, the dynamics of the economy of the two countries, the reduction of poverty and the improvement of access to social services for the residents. This project also contributes to the revitalization of the economy and to the promotion of economic integration in West Africa.
