Project for Drinking Water Supply in the region of Tambacounda

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

This project aimed to improve the situation of the supply of drinking water in Senegal through the construction and rehabilitation of existing hydropower plants at 19 sites of Tambacounda (15 sites), Matam (2 sites) , Louga (1 site) and Thies (1 site).

PROJECT SUMMARY

The implementations of this project are following:

  • Construction and rehabilitation of 24 boreholes;
  • Installation of water collection equipment, rehabilitation of mining drainage equipment (pumps, motors, generators);
  • Construction and rehabilitation of water towers, construction of cabins pumping, pipeline installation and reticulation of water supply;
  • Training by Japanese experts for the users of boreholes of the 19 sites.
    Total cost of 6,500 billion CFA, this project allowed the upgrading of 19 rural sites motorized boreholes and contributes to the sustainable access to safe drinking water in the target regions.
