This project is for the rehabilitation of a 55.1 kilometer-long road between Masasi and Mangaka, a portion of the Mtwara Corridor in the southern part of Tanzania. Particularly in rainy seasons, passage through this section is difficult, therefore, it's impeding the movement of people and goods.
The major economic activity along Mtwara Corridor is agriculture, especially production of cashew nuts. It is expected that the improvement of road condition will assist in increasing exports of the products through Mtwara Port or Dar es Salaam Port, and across the border to Mazambique.
