JICA supports development education and education for international understanding based on three priority areas: (1) "Returning knowledge" to Japanese society (enhancing Japanese society with knowledge of developing countries), (2) providing opportunities for thought (What can I do?), and (3) bridging gaps (promoting development education in respective areas).

International Cooperation Lectures

JICA Tokyo sends out experienced JICA volunteers to act as instructors and talk about situations in developing countries and their relationships to Japan as well as international cooperation in general. Please take advantage of these opportunities for international understanding education during integrated study periods, the other subjects or special activities in schools, as well as training programs for schoolteachers, PTA members, local governments, and others.

Seminar and Training Programs for Development Education/ Education for International Understanding

JICA makes use of the resources it has collected on development countries and works in partnership with NGOs, boards of education, international exchange associations, and other related organizations to provide training opportunities that result in an effective development education.

Study Tour Programs for Teachers

Teachers interested in offering educational programs on international understanding and development education actually visit developing countries to deepen their understanding of the actual situation in these areas as well as international cooperation activities and Japan's relationship with developing countries. The program provides a useful experience that allows teachers to pass their insights along to the next generation of students through their teaching activities.

Visit to JICA Overseas Project Sites

JICA Tokyo provides consultation for those interested in visiting overseas JICA project sites on study tours and the like. Prior to the overseas visit, we encourage you to take advantage of International Cooperation Lectures and visits to the JICA Global Plaza as a way of learning about international cooperation and the country they are scheduled to visit in advance.
