History of JICA's Cooperation in Uzbekistan

  1. 1993-1998: Starting Period
    • 1993: Technical cooperation (experts, training) started.
    • 1994: ODA Loan started by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
    • 1995: Grant Aid started by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA).
  2. 1999-2002: Laying Foundation Period
    • 1999: JICA Office opened in Tashkent.
    • 2000: First JOCV volunteer dispatched.
    • 2000: Uzbekistan-Japan Center Project started.
    • 2000: JDS (Grant aid for scholarship) started.
  3. 2003-2008: Start of Strategic Cooperation Period
    • Uzbekistan Office was selected as one of the 30 strategically strengthened JICA overseas offices
    • 2006: Country Assistance Program developed by MOFA
  4. 2009-2015: Scheme Widening Period
    • 2008: New JICA: merging of ODA loan (JBIC) and Grant Aid (MOFA).
    • 2014: Sector project loan (Energy sector).
    • 2015: Public Private Partnership started
  5. 2017: New Vision
