History of JICA's Cooperation in Uzbekistan

1993-1998: Starting Period
- 1993: Technical cooperation (experts, training) started.
- 1994: ODA Loan started by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
- 1995: Grant Aid started by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA).
1999-2002: Laying Foundation Period
- 1999: JICA Office opened in Tashkent.
- 2000: First JOCV volunteer dispatched.
- 2000: Uzbekistan-Japan Center Project started.
- 2000: JDS (Grant aid for scholarship) started.
2003-2008: Start of Strategic Cooperation Period
- Uzbekistan Office was selected as one of the 30 strategically strengthened JICA overseas offices
- 2006: Country Assistance Program developed by MOFA
2009-2015: Scheme Widening Period
- 2008: New JICA: merging of ODA loan (JBIC) and Grant Aid (MOFA).
- 2014: Sector project loan (Energy sector).
- 2015: Public Private Partnership started
2017: New Vision
