JICA volunteer's success story

Photo

World Gojuryu Karate-do Federation (WJKF) World Tournament was held in Bucharest, Romania. It is the fourth World Championship of this organization. I came to Uzbekistan under JICA volunteer program to introduce Gojuryu style of karate to Fudokan Karate-do Federation of Uzbekistan. Until 2015, Fudokan Karate-do Federation of Uzbekistan didn't practice this style of karate. So, for these two years I tried to teach and practice Gojuryu karate style in my working places. And it was the first time that Uzbekistan team joined WJKF World Tournament. Let me introduce three categories of karate:

  1. Full contact Gojuryu style karate (Hard contact)
  2. WFK rules kumite (Olympic Games Rules, soft contact)
  3. Kata competition (image, protect, attack, block)

I attended two categories (Kumite and Kata) competition among 45-55 age masters. And I got second place in Kata category competition. First place was taken by master from Italy. Italy, Ukraine teams attended successfully in this tournament. I attended as a coach from Uzbekistan side and as for competition from Japan.

Uzbekistan team got a lot of medals in Full Contact karate style. But they also got two prizes for Gojuryu karate style, as for past they didn't!

I'm very happy that I could do my best with my mission here in Uzbekistan! I hope Uzbekistan Fudokan Karate-do Federation will have more success and medals for future as well.
