JOCV Exit Interview – Tomo Takeuchi

1. What is the most interesting experience you had while in Zimbabwe?

Regime change

2. What are some of the greatest achievements you had attained at your work place in Zimbabwe?

Students growth

They gained ability to think on their own.

3. What is the biggest challenge that you have faced during your work activities and how have you handled it?

I fully felt the difficulty of telling people.

I think that the teaching method is bad, the difference of the language is big,

or the understanding ability is different, I think that the reason is various,

but I tried to explain slowly from the basics.

4. Which is the most interesting place that you have visited in Zimbabwe? And Why?

Great Zimbabwe

Looking at the elaborately built ruins, I feel that there was a great history and culture there.

5. Which are some of your favorite Zimbabwean food and beverages?

Sadza, Chibage

6. Any further Comments?

This 2 years are very good experience for me.

Before I came here, I did not know about Zimbabwe and Africa at all.

Most Japanese people have the image of Africa, but that is just part of Africa.

Most Zimbabweans have the image of Japan, but that is also same to it.

Japan is part of Asia.

They think that Japan, China and Korea have same culture, same language.

It is a country far away from each other, but I'm glad if they could get interested in each country by they involved in me.
